Avance cobertura de inmunizaciones Diciembre 2023
La vacunación es esencial porque ayuda a proporcionar inmunidad antes que las niñas y niños se expongan a enfermedades potencialmente mortales como polio, sarampión, rubéola, paperas, varicela, meningitis, neumonía, tétanos, hepatitis A y B, influenza, infecciones diarreicas, entre otros.
Los bebés nacen con un sistema inmunitario que puede luchar contra la mayoría de los microbios, pero hay ciertas enfermedades mortales que no pueden combatir. Por eso necesitan que las vacunas refuercen su sistema inmunitario y evitar un mayor riesgo de contraer infecciones.
Es importante que las niñas y los niños reciban todas las dosis del esquema de vacunación para estar completamente protegido.
Recuerda
Antes que una vacuna sea aplicada en las personas, se hacen muchas pruebas de laboratorio y llevan años completar los estudios clínicos y aprobar su uso, especialmente en niños. Una vez aprobada la vacuna, la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos (FDA por sus siglas en inglés), los CDC, los Institutos Nacionales de Salud, entre otras instituciones sanitarias, monitorean su uso e investigan cualquier preocupación potencial relacionada con la seguridad. Garantizar que la vacuna sea segura es una prioridad para estos organismos.
