Seis de cada diez peruanos con sobrepeso: foro en el Congreso impulsa medidas urgentes
La obesidad se consolida como uno de los principales desafíos de salud pública en el país, al afectar a seis de cada diez peruanos con exceso de peso, de los cuales cerca del 30% presenta obesidad.
En este contexto, el Congreso de la República fue sede de un foro multisectorial que reunió a representantes del Estado, la academia, la sociedad civil y la industria, con el objetivo de impulsar acciones concretas frente a esta problemática.
Durante el encuentro, especialistas coincidieron en la necesidad de abordar la obesidad desde un enfoque integral, que combine prevención, acceso a tratamiento oportuno y políticas públicas sostenibles.
El panel contó con la participación de Ernesto Bustamante Donayre, Karla Ruiz de Castilla, Dr. Edgar Mestas, Dra. Ángela Flores, Dr. Luciano Poggi y Dr. Alfonso Gutiérrez Aguado, quienes aportaron una mirada técnica y estratégica sobre los retos y oportunidades para enfrentar esta enfermedad crónica.
El espacio permitió reforzar la importancia de la innovación, el acceso a tratamientos y el desarrollo de soluciones que contribuyan a mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes.
El consenso fue claro: la obesidad requiere una respuesta articulada y urgente, con el compromiso de todos los actores del sistema de salud.
