Cobertura de vacunación nacional
A causa de diversos motivos, siendo uno de los principales la pandemia, las coberturas de vacunación han sido menores desde el 2020 en adelante. De acuerdo al INEI, en 2020 solo el 61% de niños menores de 1 año contaban con vacunas completas de acuerdo a su edad; en 2021, el 69% y en 2022, 70%. Es importante resaltar que las coberturas varían en las distintas regiones del país, por ejemplo, el promedio nacional de cobertura de vacunación contra la Varicela es de 58%, sin embargo, hay regiones con menor cobertura como Ucayali (34%), Arequipa y Callao (44%) y Loreto (45%).
Pero ¿por qué es fundamental que los programas de vacunación de rutina se continúen? El descenso de coberturas puede ocasionar la reaparición o brotes de enfermedades infecciosas, como el caso de Polio virus Tipo 1 en Loreto, Difteria en 2020, Tos ferina en el norte o Influenza en la selva en 2022.
A continuación, se detalla la cobertura de algunas vacunas en las distintas regiones del país para el 2022.
